Fire Prevention

A hotel fire can be disastrous in Malibu/Topanga Canyon/Pacific Palisades The fire and smoke damage may create a massive loss of income for the owner of the commercial structure, due in large part because guests will not be able to stay at the resort until fire restoration has been completed by experts who handle fire cleanup. Fortunately, there are steps that can be taken to help prevent a hotel fire from starting in the first place. Here are three tips for fire prevention to help avoid a blaze at an inn.
- Install Sprinklers and Smoke Detectors
One of the most important steps that a hotel owner can take to prevent a fire from destroying property is to install high-quality fire sprinklers. Because an inn may be quite large, there are many areas where a fire could potentially start. Therefore, it may be wise to have the entire property covered by the protection of sprinklers. Additionally, smoke detectors in every guest room – as well as in the common areas of the resort – should be installed and tested regularly.
- Create an Evacuation Plan
It may be advantageous to create a hotel fire evacuation plan and share it with all guests – as well as informing employees. In addition to placing exit routes and evacuation procedures inside a guest room (which is customary for many resorts), it may be helpful to include emergency procedures with paperwork when patrons arrive at the property. It may also be useful to post diagrams about exits and escape routes throughout the building. Guests – and all individuals on-site –should be informed and prepared regarding evacuation procedures. (It’s also important to note that when all individuals are safely outside of the structure, firefighters may have an easier time accessing and extinguishing a blaze if one begins.)
- Assign Duties to Employees to Ensure Lives are Saved
While an evacuation plan is an absolute necessity, it may also be beneficial to assign specific duties to employees to assist guests outside a hotel if a blaze starts. For example, if a fire erupts in one part of the resort, employees working in that area may rush into action to alert – and assist – all visitors to the nearest and safest exits. Doing so may help firefighters to save lives.
An inferno at an inn can be a terrible disaster. However, if the fire prevention steps listed here are taken, then the risk of a blaze may be greatly reduced.
