The Mountain Fire that ignited in Ventura County on November 6, 2024, provides a harrowing example of how quickly a wildfire can consume entire residences in Malibu.
Within just two days, the fire had expanded to cover approximately 32 square miles, driven by intense Santa Ana winds with gusts reaching up to 80 mph
In November 2024, a small 50-acre brush fire (the Broad Fire) erupted near Malibu's Broad Beach, prompting brief closures of Pacific Coast Highway. 2 houses were burned and many affected by the smoke and soot.
